Narmada Udgam - Amarkantak (Madhya Pradesh)

Narmada Udgam is the gateway of river Narmada, the river of Mother Goddess Narmada. The Narmada Ugdam is one of the main sources of tourist attraction in India. It is believed that Lord Shiva along with his daughter named Narmada used to stay at this place and so. Narmada Ugdam has risen from the Jata of Lord Shiva and therefore it is also known as Jata Shankari. It is said that the plants in Amarkantak has a miraculous property of healing. But the Garden is as par excellence. A temple built at the source of the Narmada is the holiest spot in Amarkantak. In fact, there are number of deities that are worshipped in Amarkantak out of which 12 deities have been identified, others are yet to be discovered. But the significant fact is that Amarkantak is the ideal place for a pilgrimage and men who wish to decrease their load of sin. Still attracts the tourists all over the world and during the winter season.
